“Don’t Settle: Living with Audacious Faith”

Have you ever asked God for something so bold it almost felt offensive? Something so big that you stopped mid-prayer thinking, “Who am I to ask this?” Joshua didn’t hesitate. He didn’t tiptoe into his miracle—he swung for the fences. And the miracle? Time literally stood still.

The Audacity to Ask

What would make someone like Joshua, a man born into slavery, think he could command the sun to stand still—and believe God would listen?

Intimacy. Relationship. Faith. Vision.

Joshua’s audacity came from proximity to God. He didn’t wake up one day and decide to make bold demands of Heaven. He lived daily in God’s presence, obeying, listening, trusting. And that relationship built the kind of faith that dared to believe for the impossible.

He wasn’t reckless. He was resolved.

“If your vision isn’t intimidating to you, there’s a good chance it’s insulting to God.”

Faith That Triggers the Impossible

Audacity is a trigger—it activates the supernatural in ordinary people. Joshua was bold because he believed everything God had said. From the beginning of his leadership journey, God had been speaking words like: “Be strong and courageous,” “I have given,” and “Do not be afraid.” These weren’t suggestions. They were affirmations of victory.

When Joshua commanded the sun to stand still in Joshua 10:12, it wasn’t arrogance—it was alignment. He believed God so deeply, so fully, that his boldness was simply a reflection of his faith.

“Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” – Hebrews 11:6

Joshua didn’t hesitate because his history with God gave him confidence. Over and over, God had proven Himself faithful. Why wouldn’t He come through this time?

What about you? How many times has God shown up in your life? How many moments can you look back on and say, “That was only God”? That history is meant to fuel your present-day faith.

You Have the Same Access

Too often we disqualify ourselves. We look at people like Joshua and think, “That’s great for him—he was special. He was anointed. I’m not like that.”

But the truth? God is no respecter of persons.

The same God who listened to Joshua is listening to you. The same power that froze time is available to you through prayer, faith, and obedience. God hasn’t changed—our expectations have.

What miracle are you leaving unclaimed because you haven’t dared to ask?

What “sun” have you been afraid to command to stand still?

It Was a Miracle… and Then He Went Home

After all that—after the sun stood still, time paused, and Israel claimed victory—the Bible says, “Then Joshua returned to Gilgal.” That’s it. No parade. No monument. Just, “God did what He said He’d do. Time to go home.”

What we call miraculous, God calls normal.

He’s not overwhelmed by your request. He’s not surprised by your prayer. He’s ready—but are you willing to move?

Three Steps to Audacious Living

So how do we walk in this kind of bold faith? Here are three steps based on Joshua’s example:

1. See and Seize God’s Vision

To do the impossible, you must open your heart and mind to God’s vision. Joshua helped the Gibeonites—even after they deceived him, because he saw a larger plan unfolding. Their plea for help brought five enemy kings together in one place. What seemed like a distraction became destiny.

Sometimes deception and disappointment are just disguises for divine strategy.

2. Step Out in Faith

Not your own strength. Not your own plans. Joshua pursued God’s larger purpose, and God turned a lie into a launchpad. With five armies gathered, God gave Israel one extended day to defeat them all.

Some victories require more time. Ask God for the extension. Wait on His timing. It’s always perfect.

3. Set Your Miracle in Motion

Joshua didn’t stop with belief. He acted. He marched all night. He fought all day. He asked for more time. And then he claimed the land.

What miracle are you praying for that still requires a step of obedience from you?

Your faith must move your feet. God can do anything, but He won’t do what you refuse to move toward.

Final Thought: Don’t Settle

Joshua didn’t settle for what was probable—he believed for what was impossible. And God met his faith with power.

What about you? What bold, audacious prayer is sitting inside you, waiting to be spoken? What vision have you pushed aside because it felt too intimidating?

You serve a limitless God.

So stop settling.

Start asking.

And don’t be surprised when Heaven moves.
